I have a dilemma. I bought my 58 Shasta Airflyte from a reputable dealership, or so I thought anyway. They told me that they did a complete title search. The sheriffs dept came out and checked it all out on top of it. Here is the problem, when we started tearing her down, we found what looks like original paperwork, which says it's a 63. # 1, I wanted either a 58 or 59. #2, I want to keep it as original as I can. The question was raised yesterday when I started talking about the wavy cabinets over the dinette. It seems the 58 model only came with a nice shelf above the table, while the 63 had the wavy cabinets. Someone on the board posted that he thought it was a 63. I sent Ross a PM and posted on his database thread but haven't heard back from him. Does anyone know how I can find out the CORRECT year? I keep running into dead ends. Thanks in Advance lynette Here is the vin- v12696

The year is stamped on the bottom of the sink in the 3 that we have here. Also on the backside of the mirrors. Hope this helps!

Lynette, When I first saw the jalouise style rear side windows and the accesories almost identical to my trailer, I suspected it was an early 60's model. My 63 Astroflyte and 64 Airflyte are almost identical to yours. I just looked in the Yahoo group database and found 3 Airflytes that are 1963's that are within 200 VIN numbers of yours......you got a 63 my dear. Sorry for the bad news. That being said, are you worried about paperwork not matching reality? I'm anal so I like my stuff to match too, but if you are worried about the law I wouldn't sweat it..nobody knows the difference.

Someone in the past probably just used a title from a 58 and sold the camper. Nobody really knows the difference until they start searching for the VIN on the camper and matching it to the title. I luckily have 3 titles the seem to match my 3 campers but I see how it would be easy to just swap them around without anyone being the wiser. I honestly wouldnt even blame the dealer, the title itself is clean but just doesnt match the camper.

As far as the wavy cabinets go, my 56 has has them above the dinette so I wouldn't worry too much on that end either.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to pull the sink today and check the date. As far as I'm concerned, I have a 58. HA! I don't really think that the dealer was trying to mislead me. They did their due diligence. I'm may try to straightened this mess up, so whomever is fortunate enough to own Bella after I'm 6 ft under doesn't have this problem.

You shouldn't have to pull the sink to check the date, may be stamped on the backside but you could use a mirror. Unless your pulling the sink out anyway. Also keep in mind this will only tell you when the sink was made. Obviously if it was made in 62/63 then the trailer is not a 58.
If you have a mirror the date may be on the back of that as well.

Thanks in Advance lynette Here is the vin- v12696 Hey Lynette, We just got back from vacation, dodging Debie!! You do have a 1963 Airflyte, based on the other VIN's that I have. I apologize for not seeing your post on the Database thread. I did PM you on the 21st with the VIN info that I found, before we hit the road. I believe that the year was a typo or a title from another Shasta, which happens a lot! Ross
