Hi everyone, nice too see so many like minded vintage trailer owners. Just wondering if anyone has purchased an awning for their trailer, any advice good or bad is appreciated. We have a 1963 airflyte shasta trailer. We are in Alberta Canada wish there were more vintage trailer owners here or maybe we are not aware of them yet. Thanks for your help

Hello
We also live in Alberta, Sherwood Park, just east of Edmonton by 10 miles? We have a 1963 Shasta Trailer as well and we are looking for a awning too, What have you found so far, We have a Marti-Awning 1-530-891-5120, and have had no luck with them returning my calls.

Welcome to the VSTF... I am having a hard time trying to figure out what it is you are looking for? Do you want a rope and pole awning like Marti sells or are you looking for a Zip Dee retractable awning? I'm not sure if you are saying that you own a Marti awning or are trying to contact her so you can buy one. If you are trying to contact her just email her at the address on her blog... trailerawning.blogspot.com/I have had contact with her quite a bit and she has been very helpful via email. People speak highly of her work. I think many are happy with her awnings. Try her on email. Brian

Marti, I bought a 1973 Shasta 1400 a couple of weeks ago. It needs some help. For the most part the trailer is intact. BUT.... I need a toilet. There is a piece of plywood over the hole in the floor where it used to be. The other things I need is to figure out how to clean the water tank so that I can have water, where to purchase cabinets (& how to hand them), not sure if the windows are correct because they are flush outside but inside they protrude about a half inch. I need new (ding dong size) lights that exist outside of the trailer at the top but most are broken. I've already purchased/installed a new door mechanism so that I can lock it up. Need new screen door or rehab the existing one, it's missing the other part of the door that slides to keep the bugs out (for me it's keeping the cats inside and not launching themselves out the door. There is a local RV parts dealer that had the vintage door mechanism and I will probably try to get a lot of help from them.
I also need an awning. It's a 14 ft trailer. It is white with blue trimming and painted yellow inside. I'll probably go with that for the awning. White, blue and yellow. Would you have the hardware for the awning too or do you just make the material part of the awning set up?
As you can tell, I am a newbie to vintage trailers. I'm not sure just what the last owner was thinking. The things that were done to this trailer just don't make sense. For instance, the rear cabinets were completely taken out. They installed a thing that folds down to sleep one more person. When not in use it folds back up out of the way. It is very heavy. When it is folded up out of the way there are two sliding bolts to hold it in place. Probably trying to make it a hunter's trailer. I've got a lot of work to do on it in my estimation.
Anyway, to contact me either reply to this post or contaact me at sunshineparrot123@gmail.com. Thanks for your help.
