I will be re-skinning the roof and attaching the drip rail of our trailer this weekend. Is it advisable to seal the screws with some sort of sealant, in addition the the 3/4 putty tape? If so, what is the best sealant to use in this application? Thanks!

Gutter seal works well on the screws. Try to find it in a toothpaste type tube rather than a caulk tube.
If you haven't already replaced the edge wood, I would consider Gorilla gluing and toothpicking existing holes to insure a good bite for the screws to ooze the putty. Use the original #8 screws to prevent damage to the aluminum edge trim.
RV putty works very well to waterproof the trailer. I go beforehand and seal imperfections with Gutter Seal before the final putty/edge trim installaton.

There are lots of different brands of non-silicone sealants out there for the screw heads. Every hardware store carries at least one.

Thanks all for the great advice! I am planing to squirt some gutter seal in each screw hole before fastening, does that sound like a good plan?

I use Gutter Seal for that, yes. It doesn't take much.

I like using Lexel Sealant. It is clear and stays flexible.

Ross, how long does Lexel take to cure? Is it firm in a few hours or? Thanks.

It is tack free in about 30 minutes and in direct sun, in about 2 minutes. Cures firm in 2-4 days and complete cure in 1-2 weeks. This is what most of the log home builders and painters of log homes prefer to use where we live. I figured if it can hold up to the constant movement of a log home, it can hold up to the movement in a trailer bouncing down the road. www.sashco.com/hi/lexel.html

Thanks! I have some but have hesitated to use it because of the cure time. I'll try it soon...
