I can't even believe it, this is so exciting On October 5-7 my little aguadream 1956 Shasta 1500 will be starring backstage in the Artists Hospitality area of none other than the nations largest free music festival Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. www.strictlybluegrass.com/ My friend Lori has friend who designs the sets each year, and this year they are doing a Mt Rushmore of some bluegrass legends that have passed on, and linking it with a theme of Traveling America. That's where my little beauty comes in. When Lori was asked if she knew anyone with a vintage trailer, she immediately thought of me. Here's the picture that sold them. So peaking their heads in for a look will be the likes of Alison Krauss, Patty Griffin, Patti Smith, Elvis Costello, Emmy Lou Harris, Nick Lowe, Mike Farris and many of my other all time favorite musicians. Guess I better leave a guest book. I am letting them have it pretty cheap (cause it's a free festival after all) a couple hundred plus access passes for the family. And I'll make sure that they have insurance to cover it's replacement value (which I'm pegging at $12,000). Anything else that I should make sure of when I'm signing the paper work?

Congrats on being a part of the festival!
If it were my trailer at the festival, I would ask the artist's to sign the interior door skin. Once the festival is over, apply a coat of clear, to protect the signatures.

I'd have them sign, but on a piece of paper that you can frame and hang wherever. If you ever let your baby go, then you will still have the memento and the new owner could have a copy.

Aahicnow: Hamlet thanks you for the compliment. He would like an awning, but his people can't seem to agree on how this will work with multiple trips in the quintessential NW rain. Rolling up an awning that has spent several days in a rainforest, only to bring it home and then have to find space to open and dry it, is more work than one of Hamlet's people is wanting to do. Sigh.

Our Marti awning sheds water so well! Takes about 1/2 a day to dry if it's really WET, otherwise, an hour.

Thanks everyone. Just got back from a fantastic weekend of kayaking to all these lovely comments. I made my awning, got the fabric on sale for a steal, otherwise would likely have had marti make one of her lovely ones. Mine dries pretty fast.
cowcharge love the webcam idea. I'm going to have them sign something that I can save as a memento. I won't actually be able to get to where it is apparently (very tight backstage).

Remember those early days of frustration and repair when I 'm sure you thought more than once"what the #$%@! did I get myself into!" Well you've taken a wonderful trip with your son I'm sure he will always remember, and your hard work has paid off with this ultimate compliment. Very cool! congrats, you,ve earned this!

Today's the day. I'll be towing her over there in a couple of hours...Will take pics of the setup. I have made a guest book and am leaving a cheap digital camera in the hopes that artists will take a moment to snap a pic and sign the guestbook! Will post photos soon!

This weekend has been more than awesome. My rig was considered the destination for photo shoots of the talent (that's the term that is used by those in the know) and apparently just general hanging out. Here's a partial list of those who thought this was the cool hang out place and did: Elvis Costello, Emmy Lou Harris, Buddy Miller, Ralph Stanley, Tim OBrien, Nick Lowe, Linda Ronstadt. A few of them signed my guest book, including the photographer who also left his email and said I can contact him to get access to all the pics. Will try to post a link though there may be sharing restrictions. Tim Obrien hanging out A couple of shots of how she was lit up at night The Line up

I have to say, I never thought I would get to the point that my trailer was what I would call finished (and truth is there is still a thing or two to be done) but to have it admired and used in this way was really a delight and beyond any expectations.
