I know I've lit the propane lamp before, but I can't remember how. We have one in our Compact over the stove. It has the little handle on the side. I tried lighting it today with no luck, but I'm not even sure I had the gas on.
I read the directions in the post here, but I'm still unclear, and want to be clear before we all go boom.
Thanks, Ian

Bump, still no luck with the propane lamp. Luckily we have a battery in the trailer, but I'd like to get the lamp working again. I know it's a Humphry lamp, like this one: www.humphreygasproducts.com/gas_lights/gas_lights.htmlAnd has a little handle on the side, with no markings. Is up open? Down? Help! Thanks!

The complete manual for the lamp is available for download (PDF) right on the link you included. www.humphreygasproducts.com/pdfs/gaslight-manual.pdfIt outlines all from assembly to usage. In the diagram it appears the "on" position is up, and to turn it off turn the knob down to turn off. Likely, the lamp originally had a label on the side to indicate the correct positions, but like so many other vintage parts, the labels have worn off...
