I work in the comercial construction industry for an architect. I was asking one of our laminate reps for a close match to our original Shasta countertops and they said that they will run custom laminate runs and depending on quantity its can be affordable. Maybe if there is enough interest they would make them special order colors and not custom...
They use a photo or design and basicly print it, so it would not have actual gold flake in it but it would be colored like it did.
This is just a feeler to see how much interest there is. So how many of you are interested, how much would you need, and what color?
Just a thought on quantity. I want a matching outdoor table so I would order extra for that. Just an idea to consider.

We would be interested in the turq. with gold flecks. We would like to replace the counter top and maybe the slides above the table.

Very cool. Unfortunately those are old chips and no longer available, but I'm sure they could make it.

I will check on pricing on short runs, probably going to be expensive. It looks like everyone wants something a little different.
The Deluxe we just bought has pale yellow in a linen pattern. I have no idea if they are original for a 61 but they look old enough to be. Now I source enough for an ourside table for it.
I'm still going to persue the laminates for our Astrodome, so I post something when I know more.

kto17 my '61 Compact has the pale yellow with the linen pattern on the table top, counter top and the overhead kitchenette cabinet and under bench sliders, so I believe that was an original option in '61...I like the boomerang patterns, but that pale yellow with linen pattern is very pleasing to my eye and I think it goes great with the birch interior.

Bruce, you'll be pleased to know that Arborite carries a pale yellow linen pattern. They call it P357 Sun-washed Hemp, our 61 Deluxe has that same color and pattern. I plan to make an exterior table for it.
Glad to have you back!

kto17, glad to be back and thanks for the tip...my '59 Airflyte will have to be a frame-up rebuild and I was wishing I had some of that pale yellow linen patterned laminate to incorporate into the rebuild.

Kto17, would you post some pictures of your interior with the linen pattern? I'm looking for laminate now. (Still dreaming about the Texolite pictured above)

brendalee - we did a yellow linen pattern in Hamlet. It's not exactly pale, but very nice, and absolutely period correct. It's by Pionite, it's called Suede, and the color is Orville. Straight out of midcentury. I tried to post a pic, but it didn't work, so I'll add the link to our daughter's blog post, there are several there. www.howiseelife.com/blog/2011/06/20/trailer/

I looked at the new Formica, but those still aren't cuttin' it for me. I go to bed dreaming of that Texolite pattern above..or a white with glitter. I really want something like that. I've seen the boomerang patterns that are available now, and they are just too bold!
Please if anyone talks a rep into remaking that kind of pattern? Pretty please..let me know! LOL
