Hey if its good enough for you its good enough for me! It wont be exact, but it will be unique! Hey Ross.. What are your thoughts on taking the roof off, and flipping it around, so the old "outside" is on the "inside".. The guy who's house I am keeping this at mentioned that today, and I didnt know whether or not it was a good idea.. It would be nice to have a nice clean roof to paint along with the rest...

The only real problem with flipping the roof skin, John, is that the Pittsburgh Bends will be upside down, thus the mounting flange for the Female end will be facing up. No real good way to attach each panel to the roof framing.

Universal, wow good job.
My first thought was the curve wasn't great enough. I played with mine for a couple of hours, made multiple templates out of 1/4" MDF and found one that looked close. It was one thing I really took my time with. I tried contacting other members to trace their but to no avail! Is Tylerbes close to you, I know he's somewhere in Southern Conn.

I told Persimmonpal a couple days I would send him a template, and another member close to him offered to assist, not sure what his plans are, I think he is just playing around with it, and getting a feel for it. this is a huge undertaking.

Universal THANKS!! That really shows how far off I am. I think I will be taking up a member on his nice offer to trace his, and I will use these pics too. I agree with you Cruisers, I thought it was too flat too.. Just messing around, this was my first attempt. Will post pics as I take them and thanks everybody for the thoughts and help!!!

kto's gonna get rich on all those rare ol' domes... Somehow I think even restoring and selling my own Dome which was very complete from the start will be a Non Profit.

Schweet.... you throwing my hat in the ring to help a butcher!!!!! A Astrodome without its Dome is like shaving off Bert from Sesame Street's Uni-brow... just not right.
Ugggghhh, As much as it pains me, of course I would help.
Universal... nice job with the hologram affect.
Persimmonpal I live in Southern Ct and my Airflyte is up in Charlton Mass right now (and probably for the winter). If you want to come and make a template from it no problem. We have a full wood shop there too, so if you bring something like a big piece of luan, you can trace the curve and cut it out right there... the nice part about that is you can mark key points on your template like where the side window edges are. YOu can use this for referance when lining up the template on your camper and get it perfect.
Let me know Tyler ..... why am I helping the cutters?

..... why am I helping the cutters? If they are going to cut anyway, might as well have them doing it safe. Oh wait...isn't that line used for drug use, drinking, and sex?

I agreed, kto, not a gold mine. Lucky to break even without the labor. We should start a 12 step for cutters... or in other words: "How to remove your dome and end up with an Airflyte" Heh Heh Heh. Feeling very evil this evening. >
