The fiberglass in my rock guard was broken and deterioted so I was looking for a replacement. I used 7/16" plastic cardboard and had a decal made for it. Also decided to name it "Gone Fishing" as that is what I bought it for.

This one originally had a guard on it then, I assume? The mounting parts may be somewhat difficult to come by, but the general idea may not be that hard to copy. This is a huge help, as I am wanting to put one on my '69, which never had one. Thank you for posting this!

IMHO Never seen one like that. Hinges look like from a screen door! (Not Stock) The stock ones used are put on in place of the drip edge eyebrow, not onto the drip edge. The stock one should be a track piece that goes onto the camper and has a half moon shape that accepts the rock guard piece (rounded) to slide in from the side and is held into track side to side with 2 tiny screws. Love the repair and the after market solution!! Rock guard looks like real good fabrication.

You're so very right about the original, Soup. The slide-in mount is great in that it makes contact all the way across the weight of the guard. The 1970 is the same as you pictured. Since our Compact hasn't had one I have been looking for a way to add one. The hinges would definitely work.
I wonder if I can find a junked donor that would have a wider track than the SC, and cut it to fit....hmmmm...the wheels are turning...

I've got a big rock guard I scrapped off another. Planning a cut down job on it to fit on our 63 compact!

There is one on EBay right now. I just saw it. I'm not sure where mine came from. But besides the hing I have not seen suports like mine. Most are telescoping.
