I was given a 75 Compact and the lady that gave it to me is trying to get a new title to replace the one she lost. She called me today and said the vin on the toungue didnt bring up anything at the dmv. The trailer has been sitting since 86 (at least tbat is the last it was road legal) . I dont know if it sitting so long without up to date tags has anything to do with it. She had tbe vin number, brand, model, and the liscense plate number, but had no luck. Any tips would be appreciated.

You'll probably have to go to State archives with all your info. The license plate alone should bring the lady up if the trailer is in her name. Also, try to find a friendly DMV person willing to help you. They can work wonders if willing...

I have had my Siesta trailer for 6 months and have yet to transfer title. I'm sure it will be a pain. I have a title, but it's wrong. It says it's a homemade trailer made in 2010 and it's a Siesta made in 1957. Also, it has two vin numbers - one original one and one that some PO got at the Colorado DMV on it because they couldn't find the original. Not looking forward to the whole process.

You know, sometimes it's better to go with the flow (present title) than fight for a correct title. I'm thinking get it in your name first, THEN rock the boat. JMO

Yeah, I think that might be a good idea. Thanks for the good advice! I was sort of pushing my hubby to do the "right" thing and get it titled correctly, but I think getting it in our name would be the first priority.
