I pulled the roof panels down from around the vent. Also, started pulling the cabinet over the stove down. I am afraid that the cabinet has been attached from the outside before the skin was put on. Do not see screw heads on the attaching pieces. Well the paneling is installed onto the tops of the walls and then the framing on top of that and then the cabinets are held in place by one guy while the guy on top screws down through the framing into them. They missed a lot too. After all that the metal skin goes on.

Oh it will look even better buffed Schweet. I don't bother with that until I get the inside finished. We tracked dirt in there all weekend and I just vacummed it all up. Still shiney. LOL... So it's easy to clean with 5 coats on.
Discontinued? Dang Im gonna go back to HD here and buy up all they have. Are you sure it's being discontinued or is HD and Lowes just not carrying it? Because Carpet One has the INDUSTRIAL version at twice the price and I know they won't discontinue that.

I am not sure if Armstrong is discontinuing it or if the major Big boxes are discontinuing it, or if it's just a Denver thing but I search both big boxes locally and amazon and nobody had it. I had to drive accross town to get the bottle I got, the one I got has one of those huge yellow H/D price tags one it!

That means pulling the metal skin off. There are some repairs that can be made from the inside if they aren't too big and don't require pulling more than one entire panel. After that the structural integrity begins to suffer.

Beautiful weekend on Cape Cod. Lots of progress on Charlie, our 61SC.
I replaced a section of floor near the door - I opted for two layers of plywood instead of finding and using soundboard. I figured this spot gets the most use in the entire camper.
Removed one lower side skin at a time. Very happy to find only minimal rot. The front section of skirt board curbside was shot, so I replaced it. Ditto for the rear skirt board streetside. The framing around the wheel wheels was nothing but dust on both sides. I rebuilt those using some Azek I picked up on Craigslist for 10 bucks. The rest of the framing was blond and solid! (Though I've already replaced all the framing under both dinette windows.)
The wheel wells are out, and I'm researching local fabricators to make up some new ones.
I posted this question in the LP section, but because I'm converting from front gaucho to dinette, my Charlie did not have the veritas lamp or the electric globe above the dinette, and I need to figure out how to route the supply for both. I've been searching blogs and build threads, but have not seen any pictures. Can anyone point me to some?
Some pictures of the progress on my photobucket site, address in my signature block.

I woke up at 340 am only to realize since I had lost my roof vent cover, I had it taped up with a trash bag for the ride home from camping today.. And panicked because its raining. (Really so cal? The one day I need you to NOT RAIN, you do?) I ran outside with two pans and umbrella.. Amazingly my bag had held up but was full of water.. I drained it, stuck the umbrella through the hole, weighted it down by tying it to a pan sitting on the stovetop, put the other pan where there is a drip.. And called it a night. I can't get to the roof this late so it's the best I could do I also covered the stove and surround wood and kept a bag taped up going around the umbrella. I post a pic tomorrow because its pretty hilarious. Hope it holds up.. At least it's not raining hard!!

I bought paint! I was going to use the formula Kto17 posted but it was for a multistaged finsh and I want a single stage so has to change colors on the fly! I am using a 57 Chevy color called colonial cream!

I am using a 57 Chevy color called colonial cream! I thought it sounded a little cheap. We have been paying like $500 to $800 a gallon for our paint. One thing you don't want to ever do is use a clear coat because it is very hard to repair a scratch. You can't simply buff it out. At least that's what my painter tells me. I'm no body and paint man. I can paint your house though.

Wow California must have some price add ons do to air quality control. As of last year 200 to 400 a gal would buy most 2 part colors for automotive use, and regular enamel was 50 to 150 with reds being the most expensive.

I'd like to look up an old friend who hails from Massapiqua Park. Not sure I spelled that right but I'm sure you know where it is. Name is Joel Happ and I haven't seen him since 1974...

No I was speaking about kto17's paint. Wasn't he the one talking about $200 a gallon paint from Napa?

Mobiltec, love the sink set up, I may stop by an old camper supply place near me and see what he has, he has nothing new, lots of parts and pieces from 60's-80's, from best I can tell. I did find find the inside half of a bargman door handle there for 10 bucks last time I was there, not really sure how he even stays in business.

Oh thanks UE. It kinda surprised me as well. LOL Sounds like a great place to go picking. You should bundle up a bunch of stuff that you think people may be looking for. I pretty much stick with 50s stuff but a lot of the parts bled over to the early 60s... He may have some little treasures there.

Mobiltec - we did put in an A/C but it's under the bed, so only our feet will be cold. We planned it that way

Got the "city water" working today without any leaks. Water comes out the tap, goes down the drain and out the bottom of the trailer in front of the street side tire. Also got the fresh water tank installed along with the filler. Now I just have to hook it up to the pump and run the drain line for the tank out.

Looking very nice!! You could definitely sell those rock guards. You really need the trailer here to make one. Someone giving measurements to you and then having it all work out in the end with the purchaser trying to install it could get to be a huge problem. Just not worth it for me or Bob. And it takes two people to make one and install one. Even then we screw it up somehow.
