I've done all kinds of stuff here the last few days. Lots of little detail type things like finishing up the electrical, installing the battery, plugging up all the through holes in the floor where plumbing and wiring goes through, cutting two drawers down a few inches to allow for said plumbing, puting the drawers back in with handles... Stuff like that.
The last major piece of work to do on this trailer is the building of the bed frame and refinishing the screen door. I start on that tomorrow. I also have to apply the matching formica to the table and install that. Then it's finished... Wow! I love that word.... "Finished"...

Just how much of the interior can I safely remove to replace structural wood & paneling? Looking for some sage advice, voice of experience.

I removed all the interior stuff minus the curb side bench seat, you might want to pull the outside aluminum skin on the front under the side windows and have a look at the interior studs to make sure they are not rotted away from water damage. this is a common area for rot.

Well it's not mine and I don't think the owner who happens to be a member of this board want's to let it go just yet. He has plans of camping in it and taking it to the rallies... Here's a photo of the truck he will be pulling it with. Thanks for the compliment. She should be done next week.

yesterday i built the Box behind the Veritas lamp, and today I got it all installed and looking sweet, small bites! although I doubt I will ever fire it up, a propane lamp scares the bejesus out of the wife. I just wanted it to retain some of the vintage look.

Boy that's the nicest one I've ever seen. Did you have it chromed or is that just polished?

The aluminum part is just polished, what is chrome is still in good shape, scored it on ebay about 8 months ago. I just finished making a new bench end, but am not going to nail it down until I get the floor down so it will help hide the edge of the tiles. I ended up sanding down and adding shellac 3 times on the drawer, it kept being darker than the rest. I finally got it right.

Looking good! I got some stuff done today. Installed the grab handle and started working on the screen door and got the front of the bed frame built and shellaced...

I removed the j rail, cleaned it. asked for how to reseal it, found the leak spot, now to repair it. I love my 69 Shasta. doing the leak area inside into an accent corner, with bead board using screws no more nails like PO. Love my Shasta where's there a rally in FL??? Jannet

well since I am out of extra money for a while, today I ran temporary electricity to the wiring in my camper and tested the wiring that I put in the walls to all the outlets, everything works.

Actually located some solid wood. Scraped and sealed the metal frame. (Since it is currently easy to get to). When I was done, I swept up the inordinate amount of rotted wood shards that had fallen to the slab... Is it just me, or does that look like a boat trailer frame?

A boat trailer frameis a little different looking. If you use that one little piece of solid wood you can still call it a restore instead of a rebuild.

I should have said "I wonder if I can use it as a boat trailer The two long pieces from front to back are solid and staying. We will also be putting her side skins back on. And, we have the little piece of bar stock for the "steel reinforced rafter"...

squirrelmom, look at the bright side, it can only get better from here. I remember being at that point, when the Shasta bomb went off in my garage. Then thinking to myself, "what have I done". It will be fun watching your progress.

It will be fun watching your progress. Thanks! It's nice to know someone else felt like this, too! It was very scary when we got to this point before we found anything that wasn't water damaged, rotted, or termite eaten. All I could think of was "will my friend who gave me the Shasta understand if she drives up right now!?" and "What if I can't get this all to fit back together!?" LOL

Gotta love the Pocket Hole Jig. I've been using it for a couple days now. Worked great for building the bed frame.

Today I finished off the bed and hung two more cabinet doors. Then I sat down and figured out my total cost not including gas or labor for this Shasta not including the original price of the trailer. It was $8096.74 including the paint.
