He used Automotive paint mixed right here in town at a local auto parts house we frequent and no clear coat. See you can rub out scratches with clear coat. So if you ever have any damage with clear coat you have to repaint the whole area and then do the clear coat again.
The paint and hardener and self etching primer for a trailer and paint scheme like this runs $900 alone.
From what he says it's all in the prep and using the right primer and stuff like that. Temperature and humidity has a lot to do with how you mix the paint with the hardener. Of course you gotta know how to use a gun too. Too far away and the paint dries before it get's to the surface, too close and it runs.
This color red was matched to the 56 Chevy pick up that will be towing it. The pickup has been completely restored also.

It's certainly a case of you get what you pay for. It's nice to see that the exterior is going to be as gorgeous as what you have done inside.

Oh thanks Hamlet. He did my Deville also and that was just a super fantastic job as well. This inside still has a few coats of clear shellac to go.

Sprayed shellac on my cabinet doors, drawers and screen door. Wow. I've heard of spraying shellac. Do you thin it? If so how much? What kind of gun do you use?

Sprayed shellac on my cabinet doors, drawers and screen door. Wow. I've heard of spraying shellac. Do you thin it? If so how much? What kind of gun do you use? I just use the zinnser amber shellac, straight out of the can, no thinning. I use a basic HVLP gun with my compressor. This is the gun I use, www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0017XI5QAI have used that gun for everything, I shot the rust inhibitor paint on my frame and I sprayed in entire interior with it. I am a woodworker by trade and I use it to apply poly, and paint for my finishes. Having said all that...I hate shellac, for some reason I can't get a good coat by brushing it, out of the it lays down nice, but I have found it to be very fickle! My interior was perfect when I shot it over the summer but in spots it almost looks like it boiled, it got really hot here, after i sprayed it (120+ in the trailer). I ended up getting spots with little bubbles which appeared the next day to week after spraying.

Oh I don't shellac in anything over 85 degrees f and the cooler the better. 50 is my cut off point for low temp. Using a brush takes a lot of practice and you must thin. 20% denatured alcohol to start, as it get's hotter you can go up to 50%. I shellac early in the morning before it get's too hot. Once you do one trailer you have it down. But then most people are done LOL.
Bob Ross has tried spraying and said it gummed up his gun too often.
Thanks for the link Schweet...

Perhaps a coat of sanding sealer first would prevent the air bubbling into the shellac when it heats up?

We tried all kinds of ways to shellac in the heat. It was a no-go. We did it again when it was about 60 degrees and it went just fine.

About the shellac, it was before I had insulated and my trailer was under 3 brown tarps. So I think that plus we had a really hot summer this year contributed it the bubbling.
What I did today...I feel like I turned the final corner of my build. I built shelves in my closets and started sealing my vents and window with Trempro 635. My to do list is getting shorter and shorter!!

I've had my Shasta for about 2 weeks now, 3 years of wishing, wanting and dreaming and she's finally here. Today I finished sanding all the interior paint off of the drawers and cabinet faces. (Some duche painted in inside of the trailer) We have taken off the counter top and will be replacing it with new wood and I found a whole sheet of Formica at Lowe's for half price because it was broken into 4 pieces. The pieces are the perfect size for replacing the counter top, and the two fold down tables we have inside. ( I haven't seen to many pics of Shastas with two tables) We have removed the stove and have decided not to use it. Under the stove we found a dead rat and in the vent we found a bee hive. Yuck! All the emblems are off and I'm doing my best at polishing them. The duche painted over them as well when they painted the exterior with house paint. God bless paint stripper!

So far I have found 4 dead cats in trailers. Always make sure that there are no pets in your trailer before shutting the door. Cat's roam the neighborhood and can get trapped in a trailer and strave to death. Not a good way to go.
Yesterday I fabricated all new trim for around the baggage door holes. The old stuff was just too beat up and it was quicker to make new than to fix old. They are now being painted to match and will be installed over the weekend along with the doors.

It's almost waist deep on the patio. They were predicting another 6-10" today, so all I did was shovel out enough for the dog to go out. My sister's Taurus is in the foreground, lol.

IMHO that is how Taurus's look the best, but that is a whole 'nother conversation!
Stay safe.

God bless those in the Northeast. You're really getting blasted. I kinda agree with Chris about the Taurus. My bro had a Taurus when he was in college. He had everything packed full up to the windows so he could head back to school. We were standing around talking about how the Taurus was a turd - the latest issue was it had a recall because the car would catch on fire under the dash when you started it up. He went to leave, and I'll be darn if the thing didn't start smoking into the cabin and we were running around like crazy people unloading his stuff. Thankfully, the fire didn't completely burn up with everything he owned inside On another note, today we were hoping to finish up the laminate backsplash when we found another leak (!) around the kitchen window. We got some heavy rains this morning and some of it snuck in around the corner of the window. We just can't catch a break lately.

Haven`t done a thing outside for several days The weather here is so bad, just storm after storm and flooding. Didn`t even leave the house today but to feed the chickens and collect eggs. Downright depressing!
