So, the Airflyte has a problem or two (or six or eight) with the rear window. (Gee, what a surprise....) Aside from all the usual gaskets and seals being gone, the levers are amiss. This is the usual Hehr push-out window with two levers. It measures about 14" X 34" rough-in, and it is a hot mess. The big problem I am having now is the two levers are missing. One is gone, broken out from its pivot point and the aluminum frame broken in half where it let go. The other is broken off about an inch-and-a-half form the pivot point in the frame.
Can anyone give me a measure of the lengths? VTS has two; one is 8" long with the bend for the lockdown and the notches for propping it open, and the other is 9" long with about the same or similar features.

Chris:
I measured the back window on our '55 Shasta. The opening came in at 34"x14" and looks the same as yours. There's a picture in our November '12 renovation log (www.currin.us).
The long straight section of the lever, with the notches, measures about 7 1/2" long. The short straight section measures 1 1/4". I couldn't get a good measure between the rivet and the end of the lever, the screen got in the way. I can't tell how VTS measures their levers, you might have to ask them. If I can make some other measurements for you let me know.
I hope this is of some help.

I just measured mine on my 61 airflyte, it looks to be 8.25 inches from the bottom of the handle to the top where it goes through the screen

Thank you for the measures, Hugh. I think this will help quite a bit. I know what you are saying about the screen getting in the way, and mine is shot so it is going to be removed anyways, so I should be able to get close along with what you gave me here. I think I am going to have some time to play with it tomorrow, and may get a better idea. I got lost looking through your photos. You really hit it with the dinette window. Can't wait to get a few minutes to get lost there again.

Universal, that looks like an 8-inch lever to me, then. But I am guessing that it could be 9 if they measure across the bend, tip-to-tip. Thank you for the photo. I think I am going to wait to talk with someone at VTS before I order, but it will wait since they are off for the Holidays. It's 48 years old, I don't think a few more days will hurt!
Merry Christmas, all!

well, since I was board, and no stores open to buy any more suppies for my camper I pulled off one of the window levers and measured it, it has a total length of 8.5 inches.

I'm betting the 8" replacement will work...

Thank you again, Universal. That is a great view of that lever. I think it would be considered 8" too. Hoping to get to work on that window frame soon. Right after cleaning up from the storm, first 14" of snow we have seen in a couple years...man am I out of shape...
