I know that this should be one of those things that you do toward the end. However, it didn't cost me anything to get it done so I sat and did it. I polished up my script badge with a Dremel and some Mothers... It is still pitted but thats sorta expected... I'm sure that I will have some more weird posts because I will end up doing things kinda backward because I can do somethings when the weather is not so nice. That and a shiny badge is good motivation to envision what the final product will look like. Brian

Looks great Brian. I took the Shasta emblems, painted them black and then used steel wool and cleaned the tops of the lettering. Seemed to make the letters pop out more.

Interesting. If you could, throw a picture up here. I would like to see what that looks like.

We painted the emblems and plates black and then cleaned the raised letters using fine steel wool. Attachments:

We just bought an emblem from someone on TCT. It is quite pitted. Joe works at a machine shop and is going to check into one of the companies they do business with to have it replated. I will let you know what he finds out. Tammy

I'm missing the Shasta script badge on the street side of my '61. Anyone know where I might get a replacement?

Watch eBay... hold on to your wallet, these seem to go for $50-$100.

The street side on my '61 was just a sticker. Were other people's metal?

I have only seen the metal badge attached curbside from the factory. Of course, one could always add one to the other side if desired.

I tried the 'paint it black and use fine steel wool' method and it looks much nicer than it did~ (as you can see, the starting point was not so good.. VERY pitted and milky) Before: After: Still has obvious pits but it'll do for now
