just demo'd my ice box door on my 65 compact.
1x2 wood frame with 1/2" fiberglass insulation in the frame.
Front panel is rather heavy gauge steel/ Inner plastic attached to wood frame with narrow crown staples.
Pried the plastic off the wood frame with my 6 in 1 tool
Replaced the insulation with 3/4" foam.
I covered the foam with aluminum foil on the side facing in and taped all joints with aluminum foil tape.
Sanded the metal panel to remove rust then painted with Rustoleum primer and Rustoleum gloss Almond in the spray can.
Will re staple the plastic to frame with my stainless 5/8" narrow crown staples.
Will install new bulb type weather strip as the original has shrunk a bit and probably won't seal well.
