If you want cheap whitewalls go to Mooneyesusa.com and check out theyre portawalls. They are cheap and work great. Easy to install too. Ive run them on my old VWs and have had no problems what so ever. You can also use them many time on any tire you want.

Are you going to reuse any or all of the sidings and/or roof?
Also, why didn't you have the frame powder coated?
Looking good so far,

The guy I talking to suggested that I go with the 1 3/4" wall and not the 3". Maybe down the road I'll do the porta wall.

My dad want me to replace the roof with a single piece. Powder coating is way to expensive and not worth the coin for this project. Just to do the rims was $110. The Chassis Savor has a excellent finish. I think the out come of it exceeded our expectations.

Single sheet on the roof sounds like a good idea. I didn't know you could get material that wide.
Big powder coating shop down my way powder coats entire automotive frames for around $400, including the prep. Downside of powder coating is that if you need to change something, it ain't quite so easy to touch up. Don't know much about Chassis Saver, I have heard of it is all, but if it like POR15 you'll be happy about it. Por15 will fade with just a little exposure to UV, not sure if they have the same warnings about Chassis Saver.

The past several days we have been busy. I decided to put FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) to the bottom trailer and then insulate it with foam. By each leveling jack I will be putting a L.E.D. light so if I come in at night I have light to see where the jacks are going. On the entry side of the trailer the lights will be used to provide lighting for when we enter at night. This shot shows how we boxed in the front.

Dennis, Those lights are a GREAT idea! Thanks Bea, It was a last minute decision to add them. Looking great! I'm enjoying watching the process. Thanks for the feedback. I'm getting really nerves it would be ready for our trip but I'm doing the best I can. It should be coming off the saw horses tomorrow night and the decking will be installed next.

Hey Outsoursed, Yes, those are the leveling jacks that I'm using. I thought I remembered them being rated at 8000lbs but I have the 5000lbs ones. Dennis

wow! you have my admiration! I cannot wait to see her all finished Thanks a lot Bea! We have been working very hard the last month or so. I'll be taking time off from working on it for a few days to try and enjoy myself and the family. Tonight we added three fluorescent lights to the top of our temp garage/shelter. Wow what a difference from working out there last night in the dark.

Great work. Do you know what brand that portable shelter is? I'm about to start tearing apart a 62' and that shelter looks like just what I need.
thanks

Thanks Ham, Watching you build and do yours was a complete inspiration for me. Great work. Do you know what brand that portable shelter is? I'm about to start tearing apart a 62' and that shelter looks like just what I need. thanks Dan Hello Dan and welcome to VSTF! My shelter is a "King Canopy" that we bought at Costco. My sure you BOLT it down because today I had a major set back. I'll post pics later.

So sorry to hear of your set back. Mother Nature can be a real B**ch some times. I am sure you will be able to regroup and persevere.

I'm feeling guilty right now. After Dan posted asking what kind of shelter that was I was going to ask the same thing and ask you if you had any trouble with wind there and worrying about it blowing away and now I see this post! I got sidetracked and never got back to post.
Gosh, I'm so sorry that happened but I say take a deep breath and regroup. We are planning on getting a similiar shelter cover and my husband said since we have a gravel driveway we could fill 5 gallon buckets with cement and sink the legs into that for stability. Hang in there and don't let this set back stop you! It will come together!
