Hello! I am new to this discussion tread, thought I would give it a shot.
My wife and I recently purchased a 1954 12 foot Empire camping trailer... we love it! I am looking into adding battery power on the tongue. Problem is I am a math teacher by trade and have NO idea what I am doing. I literally need to learn everything about it.
Currently: it has two lights and a plug outlet on the interior that all work when the camper is plugged into outside power. There is a cord coming out the side that you can plug in the camper.
Goal: Add battery power that can support: 2 lights, power outlet to hook up a lap top and monitor, and a mini fridge (which will be purchased down the road).
Questions: (Sorry, you can tell I am an idiot!)
1.) What type of batteries do I need, how many? 2.) What charges the batteries? The car? Generator? Something else? 3.) How do I know if the current wiring is sufficient? Do I need to rewire? 4.) Do I need some sort of a "Fuse" box? 5.) What type of "Mini-fridge" should I purchase? How much are the?
Any help or resources you can provide would be great! Maybe a book I should get would help as well. Thanks a million!
