It's hard to believe that someone would pay that much for a rotten mess like that. Ah well. There are a lot of rotted trailers out there that will be up for sale in about four years. Maybe we'll be able to pick up a brother for Hamlet and do it right. Or maybe we'll pick up a girlfriend for him and call her Ophelia! (Poor Mr. Shakespeare would roll over in his grave.) I could see her in a nice yellow sitting right next to Hamlet. AAAW!

Maybe I'll move this to the "Venders" section and then sticky...

Wow, that does not sound like a nice person. Too bad when they photo'd the trailer they didn't get their faces so we could IDENTIFY them if we ever went to get a trailer there. Glad this wasn't the lady selling the little dipper, I'd have felt swindled!

Glad this wasn't the lady selling the little dipper, I'd have felt swindled! The "Flipper" didn't even bother to take new photos. She just copied and posted the same photos that were in the ad that SHE bought it from. She knew NOTHING about this trailer. Just bought it, drove it home and put it up for sale again. And just because you don't see it listed again, doesn't mean she sold it for what she wanted. Im sure she would have let us all know if she did. She said in her last PM to me that "She couldn't wait to sell it for twice what she bought it for and rub it in my wrinkled old face".... Hell she doesn't even know what I look like. How does she know I'm old and wrinkled? LOL...

The infuriating part was not the idea of the "flip" but the PRICE-GOUGING!
Hear me, kayakher, or whatever that moniker was, and others that may come on here and try the same??
I don't think anyone here would be against someone making a buck, but all of us are dealing with this same economy, and unless you are selling to the Koch Brothers or a Corporate U. S. senator, then be reasonable about your retirement plan.
Oops..I gotta quit leaving that soapbox out....

From what I have seen in here and at most of the rallies I have been to is that we all seem to have this passion for the project itself. Camping in them is really fun but to me it's the getting there part that I like the most. But with prices of the hulks that we start with must be within reason or we just can't afford it. I could never afford to just go out and pay $3200 for a piece of junk that is going to require a complete tear down and rebuild which once opened up, Im sure that one is going to be. I really feel sorry for the next owner....
Do you realize that for $3500 I could go purchase the frame, all the materials and actually build a brand new Shasta? All I would need to add is the appliances and a paint job.

FYI: Let me make this clear for you.
We sold the 1959 Shasta yesterday for $3500.
The first person who looked at it put and put a deposit on the 1959 decided it did not have enough clearance because she liked go off road camping. So I advertised it again and sold it the first day for $3500. The other one, a 1962 Shasta is for sale for $2500 obo. If you read the description it will tell you what is good on it and what needs to be worked on.
I never claimed to be an expert and made a huge mistake for coming on this site where some of these older members seem to enjoy making false accusations by calling us liars and being rude.
We feel we are good people and we disclose everything we can about the trailer. We would not try to cheat anyone. We never gave anyone false information. We feel these old members just don't like people who flip trailers so they make statements that we are selling a "rotted" trailer. That is not true.
How is it any different from the folks on here that paint them and put a few dollars into them and then try to sell them for outrages prices of $6,000 - $12,000?
We are very sorry if we have offended anyone. We are not liars and if you look at the history of these posts mobiltec, schweetcruisers, and a few others were the ones who started off by being rude and making unfair accusations instead of being kind and trying to offer advise.
We have learned a lot since purchasing the 1959 and now the 1962 and we thank you for that.

It's too bad you were offended by us. The truth is that at least one of those trailers has some pretty severe rot going on. None of us have any problem with people making money on what they sell. NONE of us. We just don't like unsuspecting buyers to be taken advantage of. Bus as I said before, caveat emptor. You may not have given false information, but you certainly left some things out. Yes, pretty much ANY camper can be cleaned up and camped in this weekend, but that is a far cry from having a solid, long-term investment. We haven't seen ANY, I repeat ANY trailers that are going for 12,000 that just have a new coat of paint and "a few dollars" into them. The ones that have sold for a lot of money have had extensive and expensive repairs. Even our tiny Compact has close to $6,000 INTO it, not including the countless hours we spent. We would never sell him, but if we did, I can guarantee it wouldn't be for less than $10,000 in this market.
We prefer to look at total wrecks. At least we know what we are getting. As you said, it's a free country and we certainly can ask whatever we want for our trailers. And we also have the right to express our opinions on trailers that others are selling. If that is offensive to you, I'm sorry, but you're just going to have to grow a thicker skin.
And as a hint... If you are selling something for thrice what you paid for it, you should at least know the correct model, as many specifics about the brand, what is standard equipment, etc.

You know, that fact that when the new owner comes one here complaining that they got taken and it so much work then they expected and don't know how to fix it, we'll be here. Not rubbing it their face but guiding them so that one day after many hours of work and a lot of their hard earned money spent they'll be able to enjoy it.
I never called you a liar and you know that, so if you want any kind respect stop lying about that...oops now I am calling you a liar!
So you should be entitled to post what ever you want and demand crazy mark ups, but were not allowed to comment on it? Guess what we can, if you don't like it too bad.
Stop being ageist, FYI just because someone has a opinion doesn't make them old or senile, in fact I am 36 HA!

I think I called her a liar... I still do. She just posted the same photos and knew absolutely nothing about the trailer other than it made it from Mesa to Pheonix without exploding. Her ad makes it out like it won't take much to restore this baby and what I see is that the entire rear has to come off at minium... That's not a minor repair. And we all know what these things really look like once you start opening them up. We've all been there and this "person" hasn't. So yes. I called her a liar and I still do. Sorry if the truth hurts. If the trailer fits? Tow it.
Guess you rubbed it in my wrinkled old face after all. Now at least we can put that to rest.
Oh and old farts are the best farts...

This whole thread makes me ill. You know I was kayakher's buyer 3 years ago when I bought my trailer for waaaaaay more than I now know it was worth at the time--different seller but same deal. I hope these buyers do come here and get the same kind of open arms and support that I did almost 3 years ago from this forum.
The only difference is that my seller put some effort into her deception by intentionally covered up damage that was there (though she claimed not to) and when I started ripping into the rotted frame...and sent her a picture she said....it's not my fault that you ruined your trailer!
Kayakher...you have assailed the hardest working and most respected members on this forum. Who have offered a hand and helpful advice to many many others.
I hope your flip money is going to some really good, positive use, cause you have lots of bad kharma to work through. And I hope the poor guy or gal who paid that price still has enough cash and know how to deal with the project they will have on their hands.
You did tell them to look us up didn't you?
