Has anyone built their own rock guard? I am wanting to build a rock guard for the front window of our 71 Compact. When we are traveling during a driving rain, ( no pun intended ) we get water getting forced through the jalousie window. A rock guard would solve this problem, I believe....just never built one.

I have seen a home made rock guard somewhere. I have to try to remember where I found it. I think it was on a blog but I will have to do some looking around. I'm guessing you are not talking about around the outer frame. You are getting water in between the glass panels on the front two Jalousie windows? Am I correct? If that is the case maybe you want to try this seal that Vintage Trailer Supply sells... www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Jalousie_Clear_Seal_p/vts-363.htmIt goes on the leading edge of each glass panel and is suppose to create a better seal. I don't know. It looks like it wouldn't cost too much. It may be worth a shot. Maybe even if you end up installing a rock guard. I will continue to try to track down that rock guard. If you do try the seals let us know how they work. I'm curious myself. Brian

Seems all the ones I'm seeing are really wide and our front window is only 34 inches wide by 22 inches tall so I really don't want a monster of a rock guard on the front. Are they suppost to be double the width of the actual window?

I don't think they are supposed to be double the width. Most likely they will be a few inches bigger than the window. I'll probably end up cutting one down to size like the salvage example.
