Hello all!
I'm not sure what happened to my other thread I had posted a couple of months ago...(mystery trailer) It seems to have been deleted. Maybe because of the website upgrade? I'm not sure. Oh well. I'll just redo it!
Over the last few months I have learned that my vintage canned ham is a 1954 Starkey Travel Trailer. As some had seen before, my trailer does not fit into other vintage trailer molds. She seems to look like others like the Bellwood's and somewhat like the Southland Runabout, but nothing exact. I cannot make out a VIN number off of the frame or anything, but have not looked under the sink or behind the mirror. She has the original stove and ice box, which are too cool! All of the appliances and electricity works great! She has some slight water damage under a leaky back window, but nothing my professional carpenter of a father cannot fix in a day. I cannot wait to travel in her!
Also, about two weeks ago, I bought a 1964 Airstream Safari for an unbelievable price! This one is completely gutted on the inside but the exterior skin is in great condition. She does not leak and has all of the original windows (except the front one) and bathroom appliances. The previous owner had gutted it and started putting in a new floor. Now, my mother and I are in the process of trying to strip the paint on the inside. (which is not going too well...) We have now tried two high end paint strippers and cannot seem to remove all of the layers of paint. Any suggestions on how to get the rest off? We're new at this and can use all the advice we can get!
