Went to the Pismo Rally Open House in CA today (sadly, left the camera with the Harley): saw a ton of front window and even side window awnings with various attachment applications. The most appealing to me was a woman who added snaps to the top of the drip rail and utilized battery terminals screwed into the window side for the feet to hold the pole base to prop-up the awning.
I am soooo sorry not to have taken photos, and alas, we needed to get going, so I didn't have time to ask Marty (Marty's Awnings) if she had application ideas, but hopefully someone else out in VSTF land will see some kewel applications and post.
Seems the extra awnings are all the new rave.

Any question traction on this battery terminal application yet my friend? I like this idea, but can't visualize it.

I like the idea of snaps...if you used the marine screw snaps from sailrite, you could use these in place of the screws that hold the eyebrow on. They aren't sheet metal screws but as long as you were going through the existing holes into wood frame, I think you would be fine. I think these are #8 screws. Wouldn't need to replace them all. $.70 a piece www.sailrite.com/Snap-Fastener-Cloth-to-Surface-Silver-Button-5-8-Screw-Stud
