What gauge and length of staples did you use when fastening the skin back at the corners? I am thinking 28 gauge 1/4 by 1/2. Suggestions would be welcome. What did you use?

I believe he`s talking about the seams under the j rail. I don`t use staples, I use 3/4 or 5/8th brads with flat heads. I also use a medium rubber mallet to get a nice flat/sharp finish before applying the putty tape and j rail.

I figured it was out side but a 28 gauge staple is beyond a fine wire staple. Fine wire is 23 gauge and is what upholstery shops use to attach fabric to wood. In home construction 18ga is finish and 15ga is framing.
I used 3/4" ring shank stainless steel nails, but I redid the laminated edge.

Opps 28 was a typo I meant 18 and I'm talking about outside corners and what length to use I have a 1/4" air stapler that will use up 1 5/8 long staples.

I use 1/2" 18 gauge staples. Don't hold the nailer to tight to the metal and keep the pressure about 75. The staples will rip thru the aluminum otherwise.
On older canned hams, I like stainless flat head nails.

Only problem is you need a helper to hold the metal down while you nail where as you can hold the metal down with your other hand with an air stapler. Unless the entire curb has been replaced I use 1/4 by 3/4 crown staples. If it's new curbing, half inch will work fine. Of course the J Rail screws go on top so you just need enough staples to get it flat and held down long enough to get the J rail back on.
