Hello,
Im newly in the market for a compact Shasta trailer. I live outside Houston, TX. I'm a somewhat handy guy but this would be my first project of fixing up a Shasta trailer. Obviously, I'm interested in a good deal that I can work hard on restoring.
I recently visited some family in the Boston area and became interested in a restored '63 Shasta trailer that they now use. If I could find a similar trailer in the Houston/Austin/Dallas/San Ant area that would be ideal. Thanks for any advice or comments you have to offer.

Thank you. Is it common for sellers to not have the title?

Well I own three trailers, my Shasta actually has the title the other 2 do not. You can have the vin ran,etc to get bonded title in TX. You can also just buy permits to haul it when you take it out. I bought one that had not been registered titled for years, I had them run the vin to make sure it wasn't stolen. The dmv gave me a number to call to have an inspector come out to look and start the title process but I got rid of the trailer before getting that far. I would say call the dmv for any questions. Good luck, I notice lately most of the older ones turning up have no title.

I am a new member in the Austin area and have just begun my search, so I'm not a good one to give advice, but my husband and I actually went and looked at this trailer last weekend. The gal selling it said it was her mother's and that her mother had recently towed it to her from Houston to sell on craigslist. She said her mom had owned it for a couple of years and had done some girl camping in it, but didn't want to mess with the selling process, so she brought it to her daughter in Taylor. It seemed to be in pretty good shape, but again, I'm not a good one to evaluate. I thought the price was high, so I passed on it, but I would appreciate feedback on the price. May be a good deal. I don't know. That's why I'm here!

Personally, I think the price is WAY too high for a camper without a title.
