I purchased two of the VTS tail light reproductions; they have two wires (one for each filament, one is turn signal and one is running light). However, I am not sure which wire is which. I dont have the ability to test, but dont want to run it wrong. So is the left wire for the turn signal or is the right wire (when looking from above)?
Thanks!

Simple way to test is use a 9 volt battery(little square one) connect one wire from the light to positive side and run another wire from the housing to the negative side.

I can handle that!
VTS says the bright filament runs the turn signal and brake. If I use the 7 code, will the brake automatically activate, or do I need to run brake and turn signal wires to that filament?

If you use the 7pin wiring code than the green wire will run the tail light, the brown or red will run both brake and turn signals.

By housing I mean the big chrome backing plate

Usually the black or dark wire is the tail light and the brighter wire like red, yellow or green is the turn signal/brake if you are talking about the wires comming out of the new light. Not sure abour your model but speaking in general.

The VTS repros have two black wires coming out of the bulb, neither is labeled.
