I recently acquired a 1958 AirFlyte that needs a paint job. Does anyone know where to obtain the adhesive backed decal located above the front window?

Go to ebay. There are usually several ads for the decals. Some only have one color and others have color choices. Brent

There is a guy who makes them for a lot of the folks on the yahoo groups. They all swear by them. I emailed him a while back, haven't ordered yet, I will get three, mine had one on the port side, in front an in back. He has several color choices. I will add the pic he sent shortly. Here is his response:
"I do indeed make Shasta decals. Decals are $10.00 each, and USPS Priority shipping is $5.00. One decal will set you back $15.00. Two will be $25.00. Three are $35.00…Four, $45.00…and so on. I have included a picture of the decal with a ruler so you can see the size….same as the original. "
Hope this helps.

PS They match the metal plate perfectly font-wise.

Those do look good. I was going to go with the ones off of Ebay but now I'm torn. Get that guy over here so he can sell them here also!

I just noticed I forgot to list his email. I wasn't trying to tease everyone. They have posted his email dozens of times on the shasta yahoo groups, so I am sure he is fine with me posting it here. Hid name is Mike Kerr, mrkerr@md.metrocast.netSorry I didn't list it before, Not very helpful to show pics without a source. Red Dirt

Mike is so nice to work with- I ordered two in lime green for my camper- to match the tow vehicle, of course. These go up above the windows on the front and back. You can choose from the words "Industries or Tailers' in the tail of the Shasta logo. He'll make them in almost any color you can name. He's also playing with the idea of using the vintage logo on a T shirt- I'm in if he does!

Mike's product is impeccable! I installed two of his decals to my '60 Shasta Airflyte yesterday, and shortly afterwards a massive storm unexpectedly appeared on the horizon and dumped 3 inches of rain, hail and high winds. Mike's instructions have you "wet apply" the decals so that you can "nudge" them into final placement, so I was sure that they had slid off of the camper with all the rain. I came out this morning to discover them exactly where I had installed them. I will send pictures later. It was too stormy yesterday to get good pics...

Ours say "since 1941" instead of "trailers". Anyone know what the difference is? I prefer the 1941 but curious, is it the model or just preference as to which people choose?

My '60 had "Trailers" on the original decals as well as the chrome "badge," so I opted for that on my new decals. I am not sure when the decals would have said "Since 1941" or if this was something that folks just wanted for nostalgia. VSTF members chime in? Attachments:

I'll admit that I was a bit worried when I first got my decals because the artwork is screen printed on a transparent backer and if you look at the white decal, you can sort of see it. However, I was amazed at how well that backer blends into the paint background. From the looks of my original decals (which I painstakingly sanded off) this is how Shasta originally did it. I ordered a vinyl decal for my '66 that looked really sharp when I put it on (no backer), but I wonder how it will do over time. I have "lost" tiny vinyl letters on other vehicles (a lot of dealerships use these). This won't happen with Mike's decal.

I also purchased from Mike... and I do think he makes nice decals on the whole I have been happy with how they came out. He is a very nice guy. I do have a couple of issues though
1) I think the resolution of his image is a little weak. Close up you can see the pixels at the edge of the image. I really dont think it would take much work to improve this.
2) Mine has actually chipped in a couple of places... its wierd, small section of the letters are missing. I am going to send photo's to him to show the issue. I will post them here as well.

I just ordered mine! I'm repainting the trim on my 1400 and ordered a custom color to match. Mike responded very quickly to my color questions.
I'm a graphic designer, and very picky about things like image resolution so I wish I would have read Tyler's comment before ordering but... oh well. My timing was a little off.
I'll post photos once I get the decals on the trailer.

For what its worth, I did not notice pixellation on my decals -- you can zoom in pretty close to mine and see. Each decal is screen printed, so you should expect a bit of uniqueness to each piece -- but this was the way Shasta did it too -- if you are looking to come as close as possible to the way the original would have looked, I think you could not get much closer. I am very satisfied with my decals -- I would encourage you to contact Mike if you have issues. He seems to be a pretty straight-up guy and I can't believe he would not want to make it right if your decals do not match your expectation...this being said, I do not know and have never met the guy -- just like the product. Got my decals in the mail on Saturday. They look Awesome! Mike did a really good job matching my custom green paint. Regarding the quality: I'm completely satisfied. I think the slight look of pixelation on the edges probably has more to do with the screen-printing process than the quality of the image. Anyway, on my trailer nobody is going to be close enough to the logos see that much detail once they are installed. Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with the surface they are installed on. My satin ivory spray paint matched the "white" on the back of the trailer but really does not match on the front. I guess I get to repaint more of the white areas than I had planned on. I can't install these beautiful logos on cruddy old paint.

They do look great... and now I am really jealous! That is almost the exact color of My camper. I should have asked Mike for a custom color. Oh well. I hope they hold up for you. I do think Mike is a standup kind of guy, I will post photo's of my damaged decal, maybe he can do something for me.
Best of luck

I have 3 black Shasta decals that came with my 1962 Airflyte. However , in removing the "second" coat of paint I noticed that the back one was originally red. I can not tell what color the front decal was, anyone know Is there one on the Dr. side front ? My trailer is a turquois lower with light beige upper. Definately original. Why does everyone use white for the upper, I can't be the only one with that original beige upper am I

we've discussed previously that the original upper half was more of an off white than true white but i think most people opt for white because most use rustoleum which comes in white. it's what i used but i chose it because i think off white looks lke white that is dirty even when it's clean

Thanks, harrison429. I am using a one step PPG paint that our local aluminum fab shop swears by , using a spray gun etc., so I will do original tones. As for the decals, I found that the "ghost" outlines of Shasta Trailers on the front roof and dr.side below poorly designed front window. Do you think they would be red like the back or black ? Thanks

I got one from Mike and it's perfect. Any tips on the correct position above the window? Has everyone just 'eyeballed' theirs or is there a rule of thumb?

I got one from Mike and it's perfect. Any tips on the correct position above the window? Has everyone just 'eyeballed' theirs or is there a rule of thumb? Both front and back on mine are located at trailer center 1 1/2 inches below the center marker lights at the top, and the same distance above the window. If you no longer have the three marker lights on yours, just center the decal above the window(s) about 1.5 inches.
