Hey guys, I'm doing some window work which will involve at least one VTS purchase. I know I need some of the Standard Glass Seal for my bathroom window, the existing has shrunken. Problem is, it's only sold in 24' rolls and for that window i need maybe 16" tops. It seems like my rear hatch window would need the gasket too. Not to mention the fixed side windows at front curb and street sides. So my question is, has anyone seen this or any other gasket on the rear hatch window or around the fixed panes on the side windows up front? We're talking about a '61 16SC, specifically. Here's the VTS link and a pic of the gasket. www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Hehr_Standard_Glass_Seal_p/vts-195x.htm

Here's that pic... And by "has anyone seen this or any other gasket on the rear hatch window" I don't mean the backframe gasket on the rear window. That's on my radar already. Thanks. Attachments:

This is what we are trying to determine also. From looking at other pictures it would appear that all the windows have the Hehr Standard Glass Seal between the glass and the frame. What I am not sure of is if that is the only seal used or if there is also butyl tape there.

I re-sealed mine with that seal, it works so-so. I just do not think these campers were ever water-tight. The way that all of the windows leak, seems to be a controlled leak. They leak into themselves, then drain w/o any harm.
Except for the front sides. The standard seal is suppose to pinch against the glass when the screws are tightened. Supposedly, you should not add any additional sealant. They leak. I tried and tried to make them not leak. Maybe I need to pull my front windows and slightly bend the sheet metal to apply more pressure on the seal/glass.

We are definitely thinking about using a small bead of Sika Construction Adhesive on the front side windows. Every trailer I have looked at has water damage below those windows. I know that the windows will probably not come out without breaking them after we seal them with the adhesive but is seems like a small price to pay for leak proof windows.
