My Shasta emblem is painted grey to match the grey on the stripe the last owners applied to the camper. Is it that big of a deal to have the aluminum all shined up and perfect? I actually would love to have it look like it should and not covered up with paint but, is it possible to remove the paint without ruining the emblem? From what I am reading the piece is quite delicate. thanks, ~Stephanie Attachments:

well I would try some spray on paint stripper and a rag, worse case scenario you will be looking for another emblem on e-bay to replace the one you ruined,
on the upside the paint might have helped keep the chrome from pitting and corroding,
however if they painted it right, they would have scuffed up the chrome with sandpaper or steel wool to help the paint to stick to the emblem. it which case the original finish is already ruined.
its a crap shoot,,, good luck.

Our 1973 Shasta (painted) emblem is plastic. The paint strippers that we have say not to use on plastic, so I've been soaking and gently scraping the paint off. I'm going to have to repaint it because the base color is black.
