I understand that the year is stamped under the sink and behind the mirror. Ours is not stamped on the underside of the sink as best as we can tell. Maybe the sink was replaced at some point. There is a date on the backside of the mirror but its so terribly smudge it cannot be read. The vin on the frame is S8614. Our registration says homemade trailer with 72 camper on it. Obviously it is not a homemade trailer. I think someone was unable to register it at some point in her journey and so this story was made up. Maybe a "must have title" State or whatever. Does anyone have a vin# thats pretty close to ours? If so, what year is it please? Thanks in advance, Susan.

Yes I have a Shasta 1400 with s8379 vin# and behind the mirror it says 6-3-71

I have a 1968 Shasta 1500 and found a sticker on one of the inside cabinets that is 1968 and also the the vin# is located looking at the camper in the front on the left side frame rail from the ball hitch look just pass the tongue mine is S6257 from south carolina being the S is S.C. Richard

Hey Bo and Susan,
As for your VIN# S8614, this is what I have found:
1966 S10687 Compact 13'
1970 S10715 Compact
1974 S11271 Compact 13'
1974 S11272 Compact 13'
Richard is correct about the S. Your Shasta was built at the Columbia, SC plant and judging by the VIN# logged into a database on the Classic Shasta Yahoo group site, your Compact's BODY Style is probably from the early early 70's but the VIN# puts it as far back as the early to mid 60's.

Yeah it is weird, I'm almost certain mine's a '76 but its VIN is 6201...

Our title said it was a 1957 Shasta, but there a metal tag on the out side by the door that says Goshen Indiana so doesn't that mean it has to be at least a 1958? Our vin says V-3237. Any ideas of what year or model it is?

Any pictures of your Shasta? This way we could determine what Model you have. It would help with the VIN# data base that I have created.
