I have a 1975 Shasta van it has an 13000 btu unit on the roof the old owner use to lug around a large gas converter that he could only us ewhile he was parked. I have put an inverter inside to operate the tv while driving but it doesn't power air condition. I don't have any compartments on the outside of the van to use a honda or Yamaha portable gen. Afraid of trying to attach anything to the back to store them I was wondering if anyone has had success with an power inverter that will power my AC for travel over the summer?

Sorry, you would need a battery bank bigger than the Air Conditioner and an inverter still wouldn't give you enough for "start". The best option would be a generator with enough amperage.
