Taking her for a bath? Do you plan on going to a car wash? Yes, her shower will be at a car wash!

We are having trouble lighting the oven. The top burners light on the stove but not inside the oven. Any ideas? We have the same problem! 65Callie said she might be able to show us how to get it to light at the rally if she comes. Keep your fingers crossed that she can make it so she can show you too! If she doesn't come then we'll help you guys light your ovens. Ours does not have a pilot light, we have to open our valve, light and then turn the knob to desired temp. after a moment the whole oven lights rather than just the initial flame. It takes some time for the gas to go through the lines, which can be scary and smelly at first but it does light and obviously has not blow up. In any case, we can help out.

I don't want to discourage anyone from going into Helen on Saturday, but I just heard today that there is supposed to be some big Volkswagon event on Saturday in town and it may be packed. And its more of the rabbits and newer VWs not the cool older ones. Uggh, I'd rather deal with the hippies than the tuners. Another FYI, There is a bypass around Helen. If you take it please be very careful the roads are extremely narrow even when you are not pulling a trailer.

That was the one at McKinney wasn't it? My brother and his wife have a small collection of old VWs. A 1963 single cab, a 1961 double cab, 55 oval ragtop, and a 73 super.

Heads up...there are NO GRILLS at the campsites. I'm so glad I thought to find out since we do most of our cooking that way.

Info for those in C sites.
The campground said when you pull in go ahead and back into your site. They said if you drive to the office it is difficult to get into the C sites. With our shorter campers it may not be that bad if you have really good backing up skills.

Its that time! Last minute packing is all we have left.
I recently posted a picture of some other brand for an ID. Some of you may spot it as you get near the campground. The owner is not available to discuss the trailer and when I asked the family if I could go look at it they said NO. I left them my info and they said they would contact me if they ever decided to sell it. I simply ask that the group not bug the campground or go knocking on doors.
Thank you,
Doug

Well, I got some bad news this evening. I have not been able to get one of my campers tires back on. I had a friend helping me, still unable. Her husband will help, but he is working all day tomorrow, and can't do it til Friday am. Seems the parking area is slightly sloped and the camper is not level enough. So I will not be there til sometime Friday.

So I will not be there til sometime Friday. Kim, first what area are you in? We are coming from all over and someone may be able to stop and help. A couple of things to try. I had a similar issue. First connect the trailer to your tow vehicle if possible. Are you jacking from the axle or the frame near the axle? I had to jack the frame behind where the spring connects so the axle would droop enough and because of the unlevel ground I still had issues. The Spartan trailer trick is to lay the tire face down on the ground and slide it completely under the axle. Then tilt the closest side of the tire up and into the wheel well. You may need to put a second jack under the axle to level it some due to the uneven ground. Hope that helps.

Thanks Doug, I will try that. I'm live in Hendersonville, NC, south of Asheville. But since it's already almost noon, I'm betting most of you are already there or getting close.

We`ve been home long enough to bring the cold foods into the house and make coffee . It was a long drive but boy was it worth it. We has a blast and really enjoyed meeting everyone and putting faces to forum names. Everyone involved did a fantastic job and made sure that we all had a good time with plenty (TOO MUCH) to eat. Thank you to everyone.

Doug & I made it home ok. We really had a great time at the Rally. So many good laughs, people and food. Doug & Marcy thanks again for putting it on. I hope your kids enjoy the Kool Aid pitcher and cups when they are a little older. I have been worried about some of your trips home. I know the Atlanta area had a lot of rain. Again, thank you everyone for a great time. Doug & Sue

Raining most of the way home but we made it, although a few miles from home my husband said the brakes felt "funny". Then they got "squishy". He adjusted the trailer brakes to stop harder and we got home fine. Backed into the driveway and the brake pedal went to the floor. Master cylinder went out. Thankful for the perfect timing! We do have car and RV towing but so close to home, and with great trailer brakes, we decided to continue home. In hindsight probably should have pulled over and called AAA. Here on the board we always say the tow vehicle should be able to stop the trailer, but the trailer can also help stop the tow vehicle, although it's best to not count on it. Awesome rally and wonderful to meet so many new trailer friends! The campground owners were very welcoming too. The tour was even better having all the tow vehicles moved to another loop so all the trailers could be seen. It was a great sight!

Had a great time meeting you guys this weekend! I look forward to the next one. Thanks Doug for your efforts. I think everything went great. Here are a few pics that I took. If I mislabeled your trailer please let me know and I'll correct it. See you soon! (<: www.facebook.com/pete.whitley.3#!/media/set/?set=a.10200364437851735.1073741836.1178720020&type=1 link

We had a great time too!
I have not uploaded any photos yet but have some to share. Ill upload them to photobucket (maybe tonight) and post here. Hoping everyone shares all theirs too. We actually didn't take any of our own trailer during the tour aside from a few outside photos.
I started working on the video last night as well. Have hours of footage to narrow down, edit and try to make interesting. Only thing I didn't get to film (and really wish I had) because we were so late was the awards/t-shirts given out at dinner. Robin took good photos of all the winners with their prize so I might just have to steal her photos and use those in the video just so its included.
