You have a '61 Shasta. What Model do you have? Any pictures that you can post?

Can anyone tell me what year this Shasta Compact is? I cannot read the VIN from the tongue in either spot. Attachments:

I think I have seen this one recently...wasn't it posted for sale somewhere?? Did you just acquire it?
You might check on the bottom side of the sink, the older models often had the date stamp somewhere on the bottom. That would indicate the earliest it could have been built. It is definitely pre-1965. I'll take '62 in the pool....

I agree with Chris. I think it is an early 60's model.

Very nice, indeed. I saw the ads, our friend safetybruce had posted the FS ads and that is where I had seen it. Be sure to start up a thread under "owners' discussions" or "owners' photos" and fill us all in with lots and lots of photos!
The serial numbers may be stamped on the tongue on the curbside (door side) on the outside of the frame, and also may appear on a tag on the streetside inside the tongue. Both places can be blocked off from easy view by the propane tank rack. The stamps may also become obscured by years of rust, and/or painted over during its lifetime. You may be able to use a soft brass wire brush to clean off rust and paint, but be careful to not scrub too hard, as that can permanently obliterate the stamps. In the case they are painted over, I have seen paint remover suggested before ever brushing. This can lift the paint out of the stamp without damage to the imprint.
