I am refinishing my 67 starflyte front end and i noticed the wood in the middle - that held the table - had a metal strip screwed to the top of it.
It was also left adjusted, not in the center. Does anyone know what this was for?
Thanks!
Tom

I dont have a clue either but my 56 trailer has the same thing.Mines about 3 foot long under the table. I thought it might be a protector for the wood from everybodys feet.

I will send a pic tomorrow. But it was behind the paneling.
Very odd.

We found a metal strip in our 72 Compact(rear dinette). It was 2-3 inches wide and 2.5-3ft long, aluminum. It was in the rear wall, under the paneling and above the window. Other members have mentioned a similar strap of metal but no one seemed to know what it was for.

I think I gotcha, Tom, but not too sure. I found this in the front of the Airflyte, a metal strip screwed tot he frame piece that the table mount is attached to from the inside. This is looking from the other way, from the outside in. It's visible in the photo but you have to know what you are looking for. It is across the top of the frame support located below the window frame. I am assuming (I know I know......) that it was originally intended to give extra torsion support to the cross member in the nose frame, and also to stiffen the support for the table to hang from, in order that it may hold up longer. There is a bunch of pressure over time from the table hanging on the front wall by 4 screws in the brackets.
