Just curious to see how long you all camp as we go into the fall months? We hope to camp through late October here in the midwest if the weather permits.
The challenge I think will be finding campgrounds here in MI/OH area that are open that long.
We have some small space heaters that should keep us snug and warm inside the trailer if it gets pretty cool.

What do you call fall? The trees are starting to turn up here in Alaska. I hope to do some camping into Sept. We usually have snow by the 2nd -3rd week in October.
Most places in which I have camped, don't have any hook ups... that's why I asked the question about heating with the propane cook stove after making coffee.
Last year in Oct, we had -13F temperatures = camping's over. Besty

OK, well I guess I wasn't quite referring to Alaska (: Here we have daytime temps in the high 40's-50's in October. Nights probably low 40's. We'd have to have hookups though to run a small heater.

We are in Southern Minnesota and are also planning on camping through September and October, weather permitting. Check with the campgrounds and they will let you know when they close for the season. We've had a hot and humid summer so haven't camped as much as we would have liked to. Hope the weather works for the fall camping.

I am intersted in how long camping can be done in the Lower '48. Who knows, maybe when (if) I ever retire, it would be fun to go to a Shasta Rally. Do they give a prize for the farthest traveled?
Do most campsites have electric hookups in the Lower'48?
We have camped only in state and federal camp grounds here in Ak, and NONE of them have any hookups.

My experience has been that no federal campgrounds have hookups, about 1/2 of the state campgrounds do, and there are lot's of private campgrounds around and all of those have full hookups available. I'm sure there are exceptions to that though.
Look around on reserveamerica.com or recreation.gov. Pick a state and punch in what kind of amenities you want.

With the horrendous heat we've had this summer, I'm looking forward to an end of Sept camping trip to western Nebraska. After that, it won't be till late next spring.

Fall is the best time to camp as far as I am concerned - fire going all day, sweatshirts and hiking boots. I have a little ceramic heater (approx 8" square) that works perfect to keep any little trailer cozy all night

Camp all throughout fall in north idaho if the unpredictable weather permits. Reminds me of last year when my wife was still pregnant and she wanted to go campping in sandpoint and we basically set up all our tnts on a nice beach and enjoyed the evening... until the storm hit. it was like a mini blizzard hurricane tornado storm. we toughed it out though, woke and had a great breakfast and went home. I sincerely remember saying, "why dont we have a camper yet?"
