Talked to my restoration guy today as he has Daisy and working on her. He repacked the bearings, replaced the seals, said the brakes look great. He resealed the roof with a self-leveling paint type sealer. Forgot what it's called but he commented today on the phone that if I plan on keeping the trailer for 5-10 years I may want to either do a rubber roof over the existing one or replace the roof. He said it's not in the greatest shape. I'll have to ask him more about this because one thing he said was that this trailer is in fantastic shape and appears to have been pampered and stored indoors most of it's life...so I'm puzzled about the roof not being in the greatest shape? In any case, I'll get more details about that this weekend when I pick her up.
He's waiting for the awning rail and will install that today or tomorrow and paint it white. YEAH! Finally I'll be able to use my awning without struggling.
Ok, back to my question. Do any of you have a rubber roof? Any Pro's/Cons? This isn't something I have to do right away but I just want to get some opinions on it.

Kel, I asked a similar question in the General Members Discussion section Roof Overlay? You might check that set of responses out. Looks like you can get a professional to lay down a membrane/rubber roof for under $1000 on a Trailer your size that could last a long time. I'm not sure what I will be doing on the Compact, but I think doing the compact would run around $500 -$600. I have a "primitive" rubber roof on the Travelo, and it has started to seperate in spots and I have one drip in the ceiling at the back vent, so I am going too have to remove that (the whole roof membranne). I'm sure it was not applied by a professional, and it was not applied very well.

This guy did mention a self-leveling rubber roof. Ever heard of that? I asked him if it would alter the appearance of the roof and he said yes, but that it would be white to match. I don't know...can't imagine this bulky, rubbery roof on my Shasta. But he said it would last for a really long time. I'll ask him more questions when I go and pick her up, including the cost as I'm curious to see what he would charge.
I'll go look for those other posts you mention too. Thanks!
