Turns out I have a project trailer after all. Will need to take off the skin to get at the framing repairs that need to be done. It seems the most likely source of water infiltration is the flashing that a PO put on probably as a fix. The problem is that the sheet metal screws were not seated in any kind of butyl tape. In terms of repair, I think I have 3 choices. 1. Replace the skin on the lower 2/3 of the camper and install proper drip rail ( I would really like to avoid that) 2. Replace the flashing with proper butyl tape, and perhaps use screws with neoprene washers (not asthetically the best but if it works would be cheaper. 3. Re use the skin, install the proper drip rail, fill the holes left by the old screws/flashing with bondo. Is this a sensible option? I'm hoping yes.
