AS I was cleaning the edges of things in anticipation of putting on the skin yesterday I found this tear just above the pittsburgh seam on the back edge street sided. A good bit of this area will be covered by drip rail but some will still be exposed. I'm also worried that this area may be prone to more tearing. So here is my question. Will Gremlin Guy's method work in this situation? I really can't afford to timewise or money wise to fabricate a whole new streetside skin at this point....so I will likely go with this at least to get me through the summer. vintageshasta.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=skin&thread=1700&page=1#8985Attachments:

I would use some panel bond or some seam sealer. Send me some more pictures of it.

Well I mended the tears in my skin this weekend, Still a little more to do once I get it back on the trailer but it worked pretty well. I followed gremlin guys method and it worked pretty well. I had ordered the 3M panel bond adhesive, but not the adhesive gun that it turns you have to use with it. Bummer....the gun cost $46 so I cut my losses and went to the parts store and got JB Weld. Worked fine. the back side of first repair the front side tear at pittsburgh seam, mended a little hard to see but there is a piece of metal bonded in back and the sealant/epoxy is tying the seam together. And the panel that slides in fits!

I am so sorry I never mentioned the need for the gun. It totally slipped my mind. I am so sorry you ordered some panel bond and weren't able to use it. I need to remember that not everyone does this kind of stuff for a living.

Not to worry really... I shoulda researched it better before I plunked down my money. Your advice and tutorial is totally worth it, cause it worked!!! Just wanted folks to know that if they use the panel bond they're gonna need the gun too.
