Our 1961 Compact has had the axle replaced with a newer one by the previous owner. The new axle rides underneath three leaf springs which has raised the clearance height from the floor to the ground. It has also made the trailer pretty bouncy to tow.
We are going to flip the axle on top of the springs and possibly take a leaf out. We may use a spacer to lower it further if needed to get to standard height. Only problem is that we don't know how much clearance the 61 Compact is supposed to have. Can anyone who has a stock 61 Compact take a minute to measure the floor to ground height?

Our 61 Compact is 11 inches from the bottom of the skin to the ground. From the top of the wheel well to the ground it is 14.5 inches. Hope that helps.
