So what kind of screwdriver/bit do I need to get for these odd shaped screws? They are screws right? Are they more oval than square? What size is the screw?

The screws on my 57 Deluxe were all Robertson square drive. Most exterior were #2. I hadn't seen that before but from what I've learned, it was factory on some.
Your screws should either be Phillips or square, if they are "odd" looking and don't seem to be either, they could be "clutch head". These look like a little bow tie. They are not normally used on a vintage trailer.
Good thread above, too.

All of the screws - inside and out - they all seem to be the same. It seems like they are the bow shape - not totally square Brian - thanks for the thread link on screws. I am off to Ace hardware to see if they have anything so I can start removing the benches. But here is what they look like. I added the picture to my original post -

They sure are the clutch screws - just like the bow tie reference - The two bits I got will hopefully work. It seems like they are all kinda stripped with this wierd shape.

Maureen, Every single screw on our trailer ,inside and out ,is a "clutch head". I guess this was the fastener of choice at the nomad factory. Your clutch head bits should work fine
