Anyone have a good resource on how to polish all the trim? Im going to be replacing all the screws as they have rusted and need to buff/shine/polish all of the trim but have never done it before. Any insight would be appreciated!

After a good cleaning with wheel cleaner, we continue by sanding really bad pitting/corrosion; 220 grit. Then Mother's aluminum polish with 00 steel wool. Finish by buffing with a rag. If you really want "shine", use polishing compound and a cloth wheel in a drill or a polishing buffer. (like a grinder with rag wheels) The compound comes in several grits, one if for aluminum.

I am actually trying to learn what is involved - or if its even feasible - to strip the paint off of a ('71) Shasta. i see that re-skinning them is common - is that the only way to get the shiny aluminum surface? I'm really looking for info more than replying but if someone out there knows the answer, please post info or reply to my email. thanks. shd1950@msn.com

Someone on here mentioned autosol metal polish. I bought some off ebay from eastwood Supply. the stuff showed up yesterday and it works great. In ten minutes I had two window drip caps polished to 100% better then they were. GIves me something to do while watching tv at night!!!

All of these solutions are very doable. I use three grades of stick rouge and my bench grinder with buffing pads. I also have a setup for my drill to get into tight places.
There are a gazillion videos and how to's that you can Google. Most are very similar and some have a different approach. I bought my buffing pads and rouge (Green-Brown-White) at Harbor Freight as well as a boxed kit for buffing out aluminum with 12 different buffing wheels and smaller packages of rouge. I have buffed out my window brows and the windows as I take them out to be resealed. I start with brown....clean the pad with a screw driver...put on some white rouge and finish with the green. Use eye protection and gloves as the metal will get out and if you get off kilter, the buffer can grab the metal and try to pull it out of your hand.
The results are stunning.

I was very happy to tell everyone about AutoSol. It really works!
I found it on EBay. I still have to finish my trim before the camping season starts.
