well I went camping this weekend and when I got to the camp site realised I had lost my roof vent, not sure how, I had never even opened it. after searching online a bit and reading here, I decided to go with a 12v fan-tastic fan 4000, with 3 speeds and reverse. I just bought one off ebay for $137.99 shipped,,, and that's basically turning a frown upside down, I plan to use different screws and buttel tape as recommended here, any other tips for installation? Here is what I found when I arrived at the camp site.

I can't help with install but just wanted to say you will enjoy the fantastic fan! They are great for sucking out hot air or switching it to reverse and blow air into the trailer. I love ours. I need to get another one next year for the Compact.

yeah, I have read nothing but rave reviews about them, sure sounds like a good investment.

I set a big box fan on the counter in the Astroflyte on warm nights, then switch the fantastic fan to blow in and it makes a big difference. It's like it blows a bunch of air in and then the box fan catches it and makes it a lot cooler. It's not the same as A/C but it certainly helps a lot.

I lost my roof vent on the way home too and bought a fantastic fan also. It seems like it happens alot with the original vents!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, hope the new one works out well for you. The same thing happened to me this Feb on the way home from a weekend out, but we were so lucky that one of the tired old rivets hung on just enough to get all the pieces home. Repairing it so that it could never happen again was my 1st project after we got home.

We lost our refrigerator side vent (16 x 21 louvered vent)on my wife's first solo run. I'd driven the thing up and down the interstate with no problems, but on her first outing, the damn vent flew off and hit a car that was passing her. I sped up beside her and motioned her over, all three vehicles pulled over and fortunately there was no damage and no hard feelings. We went back and found the vent, but it was trashed. Now we have a 16 x 21 aluminum panel with 8 screws holding it on. I definitely don't want anything flying off and hitting somebody again.
