I posted this link on the 1st page, it has the closest info I have found but might not be 100 correct, a lot of the Shasta past is shady.

Tyler, in response to your image of the possible textures, I pulled a picture from ebay of wings that have the texture I believe my model had. It is close to your selection, but more of a diamond, cross-hatch pattern whereas the material you showed seems to be more rounded. Is that accurate? What do you think? -ModernMe Attachments:

ModernMe I think your right. I figured it would not be a perfect fit. I think given the cost constraints as well it might not be the best option. I will continue the hunt... but to be totally honest with you I dont think finding a 100% match is all that likely. I have quite a bit of resourses at my disposal, but making a texturing roller, not in the cards. We'll see if something turns up.
Thanks Tyler

Just wanted to post my thanks to: Lurayfarmer who donated a banged up 8X36 wing for template purposes and Youngfd who is letting me borrow his 9X42's off his 59 for template making and a new set of skins.
Very generous guys and I really appreciate it.

The wings look amazing... I have a 60 Impala 4 door sedan and I would love the guy with the 60 to send me some more pictures. My email address is rmbe918@cinci.rr.com . What a great way to spend the weekend with the family!

i just purchased a 1972 shasta. It has three screws on each side where I think the wings would go but no shadowing. Any ideas about the type and size of wing?

On a 1973 model 1400 the wings are 27" long, 7" tall, and 1-3/8" thick. They are attached with spacers so that the gutter rail isn't cut like on older models.

Well the first set of skins for the 58-60 style wings are done and I have to say... I am very happy with how these came out. It is very hard to tell these from an original skin. I will post some photos. I am putting these skins on youngfd's wings as he generously loaned his orignial set to me for the project. You will see the trim molding is older, that is because he has asked me to re-use his original molding. I do have new stuff on the way to my shop now to make these froms scratch. The left skin is original, the right skin is my new one. Attachments:

Mounted back on the cores and with the original trim. Needs a bit of buffing and that is about all Attachments:

Another shot. The pictures dont really do them justice. I am in the process of making 3 more complete sets for 1958-60 style wings. Will be in touch with all of you that are interested. Once I have a complete wing I will add pictures. They will be first come first serve. I am going to start working on the post 1960 wings very soon. Will keep you all posted. Thanks for the support. Thought I would drop you folks an update. So where are we with the wings project? - I have 4 sets of 1958-1960 skins formed and ready to go. There are a few VERY minor blemishes on them but I will show these when the time comes but all in all they look fantastic. The finish is what I would call bright... not a mirror polish but a nice bright slightly brushed finish. I work these with fine steel wool and soap to brighten them up. - I have enough wood to make 5 full sets of new cores. These are laminated together and planed to the proper 7/8 thickness. Once cut to shape, these cores will be heavily sealed to protect from moisture. - The TRIM IS IN! This trim came from Canada and again I have enough to make 5 full sets of wings. It looks fantastic and is a VERY close match to the original trim. It is anodized, with a brushed finish. My thinking is that this will stand up better to the elements. My first set is going to Youngfd, the remaining sets will be up for grabs. I will post of the competed wings on a new thread when the time comes (soon). Here is a shot of my latest skin. Thanks Tyler Attachments:

Vinatage
i am working on the 9 inch first but the 8" will be using all the same processes so I dont think it will be a big issue once I get the 9's done. The trick has been to roll the gooves in the later years wings. 58-60 have come out well but I want to match teh grooves for the later years which changed in 61.

My wings from Tyler arrived a few weeks ago. They are PERFECT!! I am waiting for the weather to warm up so I can do a little clean up on the skin before I mount them. I will take pictures. It was a pleasure dealing with Tyler during the whole process, we stayed in touch during the project exchanging thoughts and ideas. Thanks again. He is the WING MAN for sure!! j
