has anyone taken apart their original vent? my crank turns and closes the lid...most of the way but the last inch the crank just spins. before i take it apart to try to fix it i wanted to know if anyone else had done so and ask to share any pix of the interior workings. if i can't get parts i certainly don't want to be taking it apart! thanks robin

Robin, while others may be able to answer the question about parts/repairs for your original vent, I really think it is worth it to get a Fantastic Fan...they really do move the air out and through. We didn't need AC at all on our long trip this summer. They do run off 12v battery which you can either wire into your 12v system or get a small 12v accessory battery to wire it to. Some have used this one www.cabelas.com/sonar-accessories-cabelas-rechargeable-12-volt-battery-1.shtml

Thanks gone kayaking. We considered the fantastic fan but at this point there isn't anything in the trailer on 12v and we don't ever camp in the summer so it would be something we might do later. (we never had any problems to address on the roof so never took off the skin to do a 12v wire)
In the meantime, I found a new crank handle from the local rv store and I'm going to try to replace the works from one to the other and if I can't I'll just replace the whole crank case/handle.
