We had a great time last year and want to come again this year. I think don't think we will be able to make it, because we are expecting our second little one Sept. 14th.
Maybe if all goes well and the weather is warm we could book late or just visit on Saturday...
If anyone is intersted in going somewhere before then, please let us know. We are thinking about going to the Hiawasse or Helen area before September.

Definitely post it when you make your plans kto17 and we'll see if we can make it too.

Oh, shucks. I was really hoping that this would work out again for us this year. We already have travel plans for that weekend and won't be able to attend.

Hi everyone. Hope everyone's respective Spring/Summer activities are going well. Its only 4 months now until the Fall McKinney Rally and at the request of our Assistant Activity Coordinator (harrison429) I am posting up a very tentative schedule. We are open to suggestions of activities where there are question marks. Nobody has to come to any events but everyone is welcome to join in at all the events.
Below is what we have preliminarily come up with. Please suggest changes, or activities you would like to see. Or if you think the timings are off we can adjust those as needed. Of course plans may change due to weather but were hoping for a good weekend.
Friday 10-12-12 -- 3pm -- Activity Were looking at some sort of activity, a little mixer style event, something like horseshoes, bolo toss, bean bag toss etc etc.
Friday 10-12-12 -- 7pm -- Campfire?, Drinks?, Social Hour? -- Bring your own drinks and maybe a desert of some sort to share
Saturday 10-13-12 -- 9am -- Activity? Anyone want to do something this early? Open to ideas. Thought about doing some sort of arts and crafts.
Saturday 10-13-12 -- 12pm Trailer Tour -- Like last year, tour of trailers
Saturday 10-13-12 -- 3pm Swap Meet - Campsite Sale We would like to have a little sale, try and limit the items to Camping Gear, Vintage Anything, Camper Parts, Items used for staging trailers/decorating etc etc. Not looking to see your Danielle Steel book collection etc.
Saturday 10-13-12 Pot-Luck Dinner This was a big success last year, we have more than enough food. Like to see that response again this year. So get practicing with your crock pots (don't forget the liners), fire up the grill, or just bring something yummy. (as time gets closer and we have a better list of folks going ill try and organize folks to different food categories (so we don't have 1 entree and 27 deserts)
Sunday 10-14-12 -- Brunch? - Goodbyes A morning group brunch??

Forgot to add with the last post that at the end of June, ill be putting out the word to other camping groups, Sisters on the Fly, Airstream, TCT and ?. See if anyone there wants to join. Really want to have as many Shasta's as we can but nobody seems to be bum rushing the gates on this one. Same way it happened last year, guess i shouldn't be surprised. Just hoping to have a group that somewhat together. Sites in the 90s are nowhere near close to our sites in the teens and 20s. As of now i believe there are only 3 confirmed folks going

jbar2bc -- we had one trailer there last year (wont mention who it was harrison429) who basically had a shell of a camper. Bed if i recall was plywood on milk crates. Even if your trailer isn't finished your certainly welcome to join us for the tour or dinner just give us a heads up.

jbar2bc: Don't worry if your trailer isn't finished. If it's towable, it's goable It's more about the comradery than anything else, hope you can make it!

I'm going to work hard to get it done (if I don't melt its hot in GA) right now its a shell with no skin.

Yup, skin on would be a good idea before towing

Well, I'm going to let the cat out of the bag. Offspringin and I have been coordinating on a fiber art project like I've mentioned. The idea is for the saturday at 9 am activity, though the time is flexible.
Offspringin has been working on a T-shirt logo for our rally which I'll turn into a stencil and will print on your t-shirts (or other cotton item) so we'll have 'official rally t-shirts' for anyone who wants to have their shirt printed up.
We haven't quite finalized the plans or the design and of course still have to turn it into a working stencil too but hearing some positive feedback (especially via reservations) will encourage us to continue our work towards creating an awesome souvenir for all.

I'm gonna bring a shirt for Harrison429 to print for me! Yahoo!! ;D

Time permitting, everybody attending the rally can get a shirt printed for free. I'll print one t-shirt for each person camping at a site...so if the parents are there with 2 kids I'll print up 4 t-shirts for them.
I got the file from Offspringin and if I don't get sidetracked by CW then I'll start work on it soon so I can post a pic of the artwork for everyone to see. It's pretty cool looking!

Yeah my luck it would rain! That would be fun with no windows Thats what tarps are for! Last year was a blast! Don't miss it, bring a tent if you have to. There were a few of us that were under construction last year and at least one that has made no progress since, thats me. Everyone loves seeing them under construction and you'll get some great ideas seeing what others did that worked well. Looking forward to seeing this design! I'll have to bring a little shirt and a onesie for the baby. If you can send me a scan of it I can shrink it and make theirs.

kto17, make that 2.... wishes progress had been made but so far nothing... actually i think i have regressed. the torrential rain we were stuck driving and camping in in Florida managed to find its way into leaks... ugh... the previously "sealed" trailer was no match.....
still have hopes of getting some more work done. mostly trim and skinning the kitchen cabinets, around the closest etc etc

Well I was going to post offspringin's napkin draft but my computer has erased the picture in the file (computers don't like me...they do all kinds of 'special' things just for me...sigh) I've emailed him so he can post it so everyone can see what I'm supposed to be working on. I say supposed to because the lack of interest/lack of response on the forum or in reservations has made my interest for this project non-existent.

Is anyone on here also a member of other vintage trailer forums? I would like to invite anyone else who is interested in joining to do so. TAC, SOTF, TCT and any other vintage trailer groups that may exist. I am not a member of these other forums.
If anyone on here would be willing to post a link to this thread or at the very least spread the word about the fall rally
Details to share McKinney Campground on Allatoona Lake in Acworth, GA weekend of October 13th, 2012 I believe some of us might be checking in on the 11th Come late, come early, more the merrier.

Now as far as this hand sketch, napkin brainstorm... thats attached to this post. We literally just sketched this up while sitting in a Zaxbys, on a napkin. This would be the general idea. I believe the lettering will be changed and there will be less wording (much easier to make a stencil that way im told) In any case, this is the sketch harrison429 was talking about. Attachments:

Thanks for posting the pic offspringin...nice to hear from some people. I might have some stencil making to do after all. Here's the review of sites: #20 Jbar2bc #21 65callie #22 harrison429 #27 offspringin #28 dianemayes It's only 9 weeks away and prime leaf-changing viewing so book now before non-vintage people fill in between us. jbar2bc is this the weather you were looking for to work on your shasta...4 inches of rain?!! In any case, bring your shasta and a big tarp or bring a tent, either way you'll have fun, we have a great group of people here in GA and hopefully more will jump on board sooner rather than later.

Fortunately I have a huge metal building to work in. The problem is when its hot out its like an oven in the building. So I don't really mind this rainy weather at least its a little cooler.

So we have 5 confirmed..... Date is getting closer. Anyone on the fence know what they will be doing in 3 months? Its only 11 weeks away now. Still only $10 bucks to cancel if you think you can go and can't make it..... Here is a screen shot of the sites in that area (brown are booked, blue are available). As far as i know site 16 and 26 are not part of our group Everyone is welcome! Attachments:
