Shasta Black Tanks

Below is what most metal tanks end up looking like. The hole is where the cast iron drain connected.

You can see the rot plus the plumbing is very heavy. Here is the original piping with the ABS shower trap above.

These tanks are expensive to replace, one estimate was $400... Much easier to frame in and build a porta potti shelf. Removing the tee gave better ground clearance, too.

Here is the pipe with the tee removed. Took a Dremel to remove it; no room for tools.

And here is the final result. The "Fernco" rubber coupler provides some flexibility just in case it gets bumped. The bayonet fitting allows direct connection to a Blue Tote tank or sewer. The trailer is a 1957 Shasta Deluxe; drain is for the shower and kitchen sink. The mesh is a mouse block.
