I am currently restoring/rebuilding a 1961 compact. The roof was ok but the lower front and back was pretty beat up. One side had pellet marks all over it, see the link. After researching several options, I contacted my local sheetmetal shop and took them a sample of the material so they could see the joint configuration as well as the stiffening breaks. They agreed to do the job. Now, the only problem we have to overcome is the pittsburg joint where the upper and lower sections come together. The existing skin has what they call a "long pittsburg joint" and the replacement will provide a "short pittsburg". SO, they have come up with a clip that will be hidden . The purpose of the "long pittsburg joint" is to allow it to be fastened to the framing so when you put the lower section on, there are no fasteners showing. If you are interested, I can take some detail pictures so it will make this more understandable. Now, this may sound expensive but we have agreed on a price, including labor of around $90 per sheet. I may reduce this somewhat as I am thinking about doing the cutouts myself. Anyway, my suggestion would be to go to your local sheetmetal shop and discuss it with them, you may be surprised. 1961shastacompactrestoration.shutterfly.com/pictures/51

Try these folks. Very knowledgeable....they have all the tools and the experienced help to fabricate pretty much anything and have templates for the "breaks" for most major trailer lines. www.hemetvalleyrv.net/

Call around to a couple local RV repair places, they buy it for themselves and most are willing to sell some to do-it-yourselfers.
