Hi there! Can anyone tell me what the thickness of the aluminum is on a 61 compact?
Thank you!

If I remember correctly, it is 26 or 28 gauge. I know I am going to replace most of the skin on my 61 and when I had the shop gauge it, I think it was 28 but we are going to use 26 for the replacement.

Yes thank you. I'm thinking about having a new piece madefor the rear of my compact but I cant find anyone who has aluminum that thin. Do you think a thicker piece would work with the joint of the existing piece?

Let me do a little research and I'll get back to you. I really don't think you would want to go thicker than the 26 gauge but if this is the lower section, you might get by with slightly thicker material. If you unit is the same as mine, the Pittsburgh joint is on the upper piece and the lower one simply slides into it with a straight cut. However, I will let you know. As far as vendors go, I would suggest you check with a local shop that does sheetmetal work like for airconditioning or heating. Most RV shops have to order anything you are looking for and have nothing in stock.
