Did they use nails in the older trailers?

Yes. They used them on the exterior but the window units are all rivets. I need to figure out what size and where to get them as well

The windows are most likely installed with Dreaded Twisty Nails, not rivets. Try drilling one out to see...

I looked at the link you provided and ours had the 3/4 inch flat head twisty nails, holding the skin to the framing. Then the trim went on and was fastened with hex screws. Hope this helps.

The "only" place I found any in my '76 was holding the paneling on (they used long, narrow staples on the skin). I pulled them out with lineman's pliers, saved them all, hundreds of them, and used the best ones for the ceiling where there weren't seams, but I'm using modern, long skinny ridged panel nails for the new walls, and only placing them where they'll be covered by cabinets or trim (which is pretty much everywhere, I'm gonna have a lot of cabinets where the bunks used to be).

They are rounded headed and look like rivets but are nails. They hold the entire roof on at the corners.

I think "Vintage Trailer supply" sells them by the box. IF not, I'd bet he knows where to get them. Wayne

I don't know what size you need but our local old ACE hardware was the only place I found twisty nails for our trailer and they did have the nice round heads.

Somebody posted pics of clear plastic hangy-store-display boxes of them in one of the threads (sorry don't remember which one) saying they bought all that home depot had, so some of their stores carry them...
