My husband was wondering has anyone ever flipped the axel on their Shasta so that it will have a higher clearence? We live in Oregon and some of our boondocking spots are in areas where higher clearence can be a plus. Any advice.

yeah, that is my camper, mine was flipped to the high side when I got it, and I lowered it, really simple to do after you get past all the rusted bolts and nuts.
you could just move the axle under the springs to give you another 2 inches. so the raise would not be so drastic.

Good detail on the pro's and cons of flipping the axels! By ;; universalexports I am trying to figure out how to squeeze mine into the garage. I let the air out and almost flat; I still need another 3", I lower the tounge; getting close! need another 2". Now I'm going to try and make a cradle dolly to roll her in with the wheels off. I have got to make this work or drop the cash and build a shelter for her.

taking the wheels off and making a cradle dolly seems like it should work....good luck. At least you have a garage you can put here into to work on.

We may need to build a temp. shelter in the driveway for working on it.

Thank you for including this link. My husband can get a better idea of what he wants to do and how to do it. Thank you everyone else on your suggestions.

If you still have the hydraulic brakes on it, you should also rotate the backing plates if and when you flip the axle. It will continue to work OK without doing this, but you will not be able to bleed the air out of the fluid. Brian
