Do you think that foam insulation plus foil radiant barrier would be overkill? Let me know what you all have done.

Nothing is overkill. Everything in trailer restoration simply a question of weight and cost.
Simple answer is yes. I have seen folks use it. I haven't gotten to that point yet but will be going down the same path.

I'm using that foil backed 1/2 inch styrofoam-like insulation sheet from Home Depot. Fitting it in the "squares" then caulking around the edges to get a really good "seal". Easy to work with and far better than the tissue paper stuff that was in there I'll have some pictures up in my photobucket album soon. I agree with Brian - but then again, overkill seems to be my middle name lately - especially if you ask my wife......

I attended a roofing/insulation convention not too long ago. One of the booths had a styrofoam mfgr who had some samples of his product glued to plywood. He said regular Elmers woodglue works great as an adhesive. I've replaced the front sides and all of the roof front & back plywood on my 64 Airflyte. After wiring, I plan to glue styrofoamand then caulk. I'm hopeful that the glue will make my walls and ceiling more rigid.
