Has anyone used the sticky back aluminum tape for roof seam protection? this stuff sticks fast and is actual metal. I would have to wonder how well it would stand up to the sun.

Not really sure how it would hold up against the UV rays or if excessive heat would soften the adhesive.

If you mean the cheap stuff at the hardware store, I used it to seal the insulation/frame joints in mine as a vapor barrier, and wasn't impressed with its holding power. I'm depending on the paneling to keep it on, at this point. Maybe it would work better on aluminum, but it's pretty fragile to take any hits from hail etc. And any movement at all will tear it, I doubt it would last with thermal expansion of the joints. I plan to use that elastomeric roof seam tape, can't remember the brand but it's the famous one, to seal my roof seams. $56 for 50 feet on Ebay, IIRC.

I have heard people say they use this. Once it is down it's down and will last forever. They use it in places that can't bee seen like to seal the roof and vents. www.eternabond.com/WebSeal-p/cr-wb.htm

I use the aluminum tape that commercial forced air installers use to seal ducting to fix pin holes and bigger in the skin from the inside. It sticks like crazy and is pretty much bullet proof. I then cover the hole and aluminum patch with a piece of gorilla tape. I figure those holes will never leak in my lifetime. our59deville.blogspot.com/
